Listed below are primarily hints specific to Release 6, though several apply to Release 7 as well.
These hints are intended for users of Dragon NaturallySpeaking Release 6.0 and 6.1. My best hint for Release 6 users is to change software! Upgrade to Release 7, 8, or 9 if your machine will support them. Or, downgrade to Release 5 (or 3.5) if your machine won't support Release 7. This was the buggiest release in NaturallySpeaking history. 6.1 was a little better than 6.0.
Recommendations when Release 6 was current were for professionals planning to dictate at least 15 minutes per day who are acquiring a new system, the choice today is simple. Get (almost) the fastest system you can. On a notebook, that means roughly 2GHz. On a desktop, 2.5GHz. For a budget system, concentrate on adequate RAM (256-512MB) then get a 1GHz+ CPU. A 600MHz+ CPU will run the software.
