Microsoft Vista 64-bit operating systems ARE NOT SUPPORTED! (64-bit processors are fine. This is not a change.)
There are many different upgrades to Dragon NaturallySpeaking. If you wish to upgrade, the first step is to determine your current release and product. Click on the appropriate link below, then the logical upgrades can be identified.
In some cases buying a new product is advised instead of upgrading, in other cases multiple upgrades may be necessary.
Release 10 requires Windows-2000 SP4, Windows-XP SP-2 (32-bit), or Vista 32-bit. Microsoft Vista 64-bit operating systems ARE NOT SUPPORTED! At least 1GB RAM is normally needed on Windows 2000 or Windows-XP, 2GB RAM on Windows Vista is minimal. If buying a new system, get 2GB if Windows XP or 3GB for Windows Vista. Release 10 requires about 150MB more RAM than Release 9. Memory upgrades are simple to do on most PC's (Tablet-PC's can be an exception), if you need more RAM I suggest looking at http://www.crucial.com as a top-notch supplier.
A minimum 1GHz CPU is required for any of the Release 10 products. Either a dual-core CPU, 1.6GHz or faster; or a single processor at least 2.4GHz is needed. If buying new, then we suggest a dual-core system running 2GHz or faster. If your computer system does not meet these requirements, it may still be worthwhile buying an upgrade to Pro, Medical, or Legal to preserve future upgrade options or to run in a slightly-slower mode.
New is needing the SSE2 instruction set and requiring at least 512KB L2 cache memory. What this means in practice is that some systems bought before 2006, most commonly AMD systems, may not work. Nuance has a TechNote 6027 that goes into the detail of this issue and provides information of how to determine if your system is affected.
Upgrade purchases include the Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Upgrade DVD, Nuance's Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Manual and Nuance's technical support as applicable (usually 1 free problem report). Proof of prior version is required to install upgrade versions for the Professional/Medical/Legal products.

Otherwise, you must rely on on-line help files to decipher how to create voice commands that make these products powerful.
This book will be available approximately October 15, 2008 and will be shipped separately. But we will bill your credit card for the upgrade and the book at the same time, when the upgrade is available.
